A Great Word.

So, recently I have discovered the beauty of online Bible commentaries. To some that may sound extremely lame & dull. But they really aren't! Especially to me.......I am majoring in BIBLE for Heaven's sake! :) Hahaha, anyway, I wanted to share a few ones that have meant a lot to me lately. I have been reading through the beginning of the Psalms this week in Pinelake's L3 journal (formerly the Life Journal, but now more "streamlined" for lack of a better term. Backstory....I used to read the Psalms all the time. In fact, that used to be the only thing I would read from the Bible on my own. I think they are a great place to start, but when I first started reading I did not "dig deeper" as I have now come to call my Bible reading times. I just read & said things like, "pretty verse" or whatever. Very, very surface level...which is where one usually starts when reading the Word. So, as I have been reading this week, and trying to d

Debrief #3: Opening Message by Louie Giglio

The first's nights opening message was by Louie Giglio. It was the perfect opening, not because of eloquent words, but because it was just simply going verse by verse and examining what God's Word is saying. He started by explaining the word that has been surrounding Passion: AWAKENING. ** T rade in something small (that is, ourselves), for something HUGE (that is, GOD). We went through John, chapters 11 & 12. I'm just going through the high points that really spoke to me. I encourage you to read it in it's entirely and see how God would speak to you. Chapter 11 vs. 11--"I go to awaken Him." Jesus. Not an act of a speaker or music. Jesus. Only He can awaken. That is how we should pray: for GOD to awaken us, everyday, to how we can glorify Him as we walk in this world, remaining not of this world. *We are DEAD in our trespasses, we MUST be AWAKENED.* vs. 16--Thomas GETS IT! "Let's all die," therefore also being awakened by Christ. Late

Debrief #2: Worship

Worship was a major, major part of the experience at Passion. I mean, experiencing 22,000 other college college students lifting up the Name of God----Ah. Absolutely beautiful. And I'm sure God thought so too. During worship time, we sang a lot of new songs--wonderful songs based on scripture, written solely for Passion anytime the words would really hit me, I, being the writer I am, would write them down. The CD comes out in March & I cannot wait to hear them all & experience the worship all over again. So, here are some tidbits of the lyrics I found most...wonderful? Understatement of the year. First Night: we are a chosen generation rise up holy nation God we live for you You have called us out of darkness into light so glorious God we live for you Yes Lord! let these words ring true here & now! Second Morning: Wake up! Your enemies rise Your enemies fall Your fire consumes them all While I was still an enemy of God--Christ died for me. Now Lord, let your fire co

Debrief #1: Isaiah 26:8

D ebrief #1: Isaiah 26:8 The verse for Passion 2010 was Isaiah 26:8. This verse says: "Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your truth, we eagerly wait for you, for your name and renown are the desires of our souls." This verse truly packs a punch. So let's unload it. 1. "Yes Lord" should be our answer to anything He calls us to. 2. "walking...we wait" shows that is waiting is while we are walking. We are not just sitting and waiting for God to move, but pursuing Him and His Word and His will upon our lives, and as we pursue we cannot help but take the things we learn and ACT upon it. We are waiting for Christ to show up and show out (see #4), but the only way of that happening soon, is if we GO out and live for Him, walking...waiting...watching for His Kingdom to fall. This will happen when "the gospel of the kingdom is preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations" (Matthew 24:14) 3. "the way of your truth" is a doub

Debriefing Passion Twenty Ten

Today I am beginning what could possibly be a long journey to debrief everything that God has taught me these past couple of days at Passion 2010. It has been an incredible journey to feel such incredible changes and emotions in my heart--that I have never felt before. My plan is this: Everyday, I am going to debrief one thing. For example, today's debriefing, is on the verse of Passion: Isaiah 26:8. Tomorrow's might be on the first speaker's message. I will probably separate the ones that really spoke to be with my personal response to them. So that's my plan. I hope you all will journey with me through this amazing event and will allow God to speak to your heart!

Picking apart a verse: New Year's Commitments

“Then David said to his son Solomon: Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.” 1 Chronicles 28:19-20 Well, this verse is found toward the end of David's life, and He is commissioning his son, Solomon. I think it is a great way to begin the New Year, to pick apart this verse as a commission to us! 1. Be Strong: "having the power" --> Acts 1:8, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you." Ask for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit on your life. Maybe you've let a struggle with sin become a wall between you & the Spirit's power; ask God to remove it. Ask God to reveal to you what areas of your heart & your life need this refreshing from the Spirit. "Ask and it will be given to you," Jesus says. 2. Cou rageous: "not deterred by an
