Psalm 62:8

This weekend was Orientation weekend as Mississippi summer missionaries prepare for the arrival onto the field. So, I definitely was excited to be there. While there, we talked about how important Spiritual Disciplines are. One of them was journaling. Something I like to do, but haven't really been able to much this year because of ... well, college in general, I guess. Anyway, the verse that we looked at for this spiritual discipline was Psalm 62:8. We were in small groups, taking turns reading. I was so happy when I was able to read this verse. It's awesome.
Here is it...in two different versions.

"Trust in Him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us." (ESV)

"Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times,
you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us
(a fortress and a high tower)." (AMP)

Isn't that just an amazing verse. Especially the "pour our your hearts before Him." I just love it. How often do we constantly pour out our hearts to our friends, family, boy/girlfriends, etc but do not go to God? I know it is something SO incredibly easy for us, especially girls. Anytime anything unfavorable happens, we shoot a text message, call someone, run to mom, etc BEFORE we ever run to God. Our Father. Who allowed whatever it is we need to talk about to happen...Who knows the WHOLE situation more than we could EVER could, no matter how much we talk with anyone.

So go to God FIRST. Before you send that text message. Before you make that call. Before you run to mom. Go to God. He longs to hear your voice. He knows exactly what to say. He wants nothing more than to wrap you into His arms and love on you. Let Him. Don't run away from Him by running to someone else.
