My Desire

Psalm 117
Praise the LORD, all nations!
Extol Him, all peoples!
For great is His steadfast love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.
Praise the LORD!

My desire is to see this Psalm come true. For every nation to "praise the LORD," for all peoples to praise Him enthusiastically--to"extol Him". And I do not want to see this out of coercion or force. But as an overflow. An overflow of simple love. This true love is found when all peoples and all nations see just how great His steadfast love is, and how faithful He is to run after us & pursue us even when we constantly run after other lovers. And, just as Paul says in Romans, How are they to see this love unless we show them? We are the ones that must show them this overflow of Love.

1 John 4:19
We love because He first loved us.

Romans 5:8
...but God shows His love for us in this, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

That is what our purpose is: to love God and to love people. And what is the greatest love that we can ever give them? That a man, Jesus Christ, the only son of God, laid down His life for us all--His friends. That is the utmost love we can give away to others--the love of Christ. This love--the gospel--is the power to save them from an eternity spent away from God in Hell.

So, let's go.

Matthew 6:10
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

That is my prayer. God's kingdom is full of His glory, of constant praise and enthusiastic praise for Him. And that is what Christ taught us to pray. For that to come. And Psalm 117 is the perfect example of what it will look like if we 1) pray this way and 2) to live this way: our whole lives lived out of an overflowing heart--full of Christ's love, poured out for us--giving it away to others, making disciples that will live THE WAY.
