His faithfulness is all we need.

After a heavy-handed fight with a deep dose of guilt—
and the gift of a timely, encouraging word from a friend about God being faithful to the promise He gives, even if it looks different than what we expect, my reply landed at this:
“His faithfulness is all we need.”
Everyone else will—at some point or another—disappoint us. Our dreams might be dashed. Hope, lost. Promise, deferred. Calling, muddled.
But His faithfulness lasts through it all. His covenant with us cannot be hindered or altered by any change in circumstance, not by any hiccups in the plan, not by any person forfeiting their own chance at faithfulness. His faithfulness stays true—His character cannot change, even if His promises or words to us seem to. When circumstances or emotions don’t align with what we heard, what we locked away in our hearts, what we sealed up in journals and boxes and suitcases—has His faithfulness faltered? Has His word changed?
No.
But perhaps we have. Changed. Grown. Shifted. Refined (and a little burnt in the process, if we’re honest). And that always means that He is moving us more into the dynamic design that He’s given us. He’s positioning us forward—upward & onward—into His true and unchangeable calling on our lives.
And what’s that?
Faithfulness.
And, suddenly, we’re back to where all this started: face-to-face with the faithful one, asking us to be faithful, too.
How?
By following Him. By pressing into His faithfulness not as the means to the end, to the promise, to our own fulfillment to be faithful, but as the end in itself.
His faithfulness is all we need.
He is all we need.
